Richard is one of very few broadcasters to have commentated on multiple Wimbledon finals (both men's and women's - for the official Wimbledon Radio Channel), a FIFA World Cup final (for BBC World Service) and Champions League finals (for UEFA's own radio show). Richard worked at the BBC between 2000 and 2011. Achievements with the BBC World Service include commentating on the World Cup Final and the Africa Cup of Nations Final in 2010 and presenting the station’s flagship programme “Sportsworld” from major events, such as the World Cup, the Africa Cup of Nations, Wimbledon, the FA Cup Final, Roland Garros, Test matches and Grand Prix athletics meetings. His contributions helped Sportsworld win silver at the 2010 Sony Radio Academy Awards.
He's proud to have begun his career with BBC Radio Lancashire (2000-06), where he commentated on five seasons of Premier League football, as well as three play-off finals, a League Cup final and an FA Cup semi-final. An experienced cricket commentator also, he called two 50-over semi-finals and a Twenty20 Finals Day.
